The "Top of the Crop" list from Credit Suisse now includes five stocks.
The Credit Suisse best-of-the-best selections list now includes three additional stocks, bringing the total for January to five.
Ovintiv (NYSE:OVV), Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ:AXON), and Dover (NYSE:DOV) also make the cut. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Discover (NYSE:DFS) are still on the list from December. Knight-Swift (KNX) and Motorola (MSI) renounce.
The "Top of the Crop" companies are those that have the "highest conviction mixed with the least demanding market expectations," according to Credit Suisse Product Manager Andrew St. Pierre.
These are the "Top of the Crop" standards:
"maximum conviction Ideas that outperform those whose estimations and target prices from CS experts are higher than consensus and when consensus is not too positive"
The HOLT model from Credit Suisse seeks objectivity when transforming income and balance sheet data into cash flow return on investment. "Perform better than ideas with the lowest bar for market expectations. The implied CFROI in the market is lower than both the prediction and the historical median."
"By using its FCF for M&A, share repurchases, and restructuring, DOV has a number of levers at its disposal to increase EPS in 2023. Dov will spend 17 cents on restructuring in DCEF in '22, which should increase EPS by 23 cents in '23, indicating a great return on investment from restructuring "Guy Hardwick, an analyst, noted.
Chipotle (CMG), CMS Energy (CMS), Amazon (AMZN), MasTec (MTZ), Goldman Sachs (GS), Charter Communications (CHTR), Air Products and Chemicals (APD), and Cyxtera Technologies are the other companies with consensus calls listed above (CYXT).
The remaining HOLT suggestions include TransDigm (TDG), On Holding (ONON), Visa (V), HCA Healthcare (HCA), UnitedHealth (UNH), Apple (AAPL), Arista Networks (ANET), and Tradeweb (TW).
