The CEO of OpenAI, which founded ChatGPT, Sam Altman, has launched his much-discussed crypto project 'Worldcoin' with the launching of its native currency - WLD. Optimism, a project that has generated considerable criticism, uses biometric iris scans to construct an identity verification system based on the layer 2 Ethereum blockchain.

Many people were quick to raise security concerns about a private corporation soliciting iris scans (which are an even more distinctive component of one's identify than fingerprints). Those who provided Worldcoin with iris scans were paid in BTC. However, due to a lack of regulatory approval, the WLD token will not be available to users in the United States.
